Women’s Christmas (Nollaig na mBan)

There are many traditions associated with January 6th, the last day of Christmas, but in Ireland it is known as Women’s Little Christmas, Little Christmas or Nollaig na mBan. 

It became popular as traditionally the women of the household would have worked hard in the lead up to Christmas, preparing and cooking food, cleaning the house, buying and wrapping gifts.

At the end of the 12 days of Christmas, they claimed their well-earned day off.
