    Join Irish Network Minnesota (INMN) on the eve of St Brigid’s day for our 2nd Annual gathering and presentation to celebrate and share a bit of history, tradition, stories, St Brigid Cross making demonstrations and song as we commemorate the 1500th anniversary of this 5th century woman, her life and legacy.     Ethna “Essie” McKiernan – Honored Alum

    Minnesota poet and social advocate, Ethna McKiernan was honored this past summer by her High School – Visitation School, Mendota Heights, MN. Excerpt from Visitation School Vision! newsletter: The Visitation Alumnae Board honored Essie McKiernan ‘69 posthumously as the 2023 Distinguished Alumna on August 11, 2023. Essie’s sister Nuala McKiernan Rosensteel ‘66 spoke at the event, celebrating Essie’s legacy as a poet and an advocate for the homeless. Essie shared her heart and talents with the world in the everyday moments of life. She had a strong and lasting relationship with Sister Peronne Marie; the two shared a great love of poetry.     IN MN 3rd Annual Literary Award

    Irish Network Minnesota is hosting their annual Literary award again this year for Minnesota authors. Please send us your Irish, Ireland, Celtic related non-fiction work for a chance at our award of $1,000. Here are the details for submitting your work: Open call for submissions 2023 Submissions are open March 1, 2023 through June 1, 2023.     IN Mn – Saint Patrick’s Day 2023

    Irish Network MN at the St Patrick’s Day Parade. It was another great day for a parade in Saint Paul, Minnesota! A little bit chilly but still fun from the mass at the Cathedral of St Paul sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians to the parade from Rice Park to Mears Park and CHS field. Thank you St. Paul St. Patrick’s day Association and Guinness are hosting another great Ballpark Hooley (Presented by Guinness) at the end of the parade! Photos courtesy of Lauri Ingram.

    Tribute to Des

    We lost a special friend and vital member of our Irish community this past January 2023. Board member, Des Keogh passed away at home on 1/5/23 surrounded by his loving family and wonderful wife Pat. Des was always the gentleman, an inspiration and role model to all of us. He showed us how to live and enjoy life fully. Irish Network MN remembers him in our sorrow and happy memories. Go ndéana Dia grásta ar a anam dílis.
